Cross-country skiing

Whether you are a beginner or advanced skier, everyone can enjoy the kilometers of cross-country trails in two different areas of Arosa.

Maran, Prätschalp

If you need skis, we recommend the Gesser ski and snow shoe center (near the Gollrad bus station) where you'll be well equipped and can book private or group courses. If you have equipment and are ready to go, start at the cross-country skiing/golf bus stop (direction Prätschli).

The practice area in Maranermulde is one of the most beautiful in the Alps. It slopes slightly to the north so the snow is perfect all day and you enjoy sun from morning until night. The area has perfect conditions for beginners topped up with the unbelievable mountain views.

The Sonnenloipe ("Sun Trail") spoils the senses. Located in the knee of Schanfigg valley, it provides a view across the Plessuer mountain from Calanda to Ringspitze and Sardonmassiv.

The flat Panoramaloipe ("Panoramic Trail") for classic cross-country skiers offers deep views of the Arosa railway which meanders along the Plessur through the Schanfigg. At best, you can see as far as Chur, the Calanda and the Tödi mountains.

Isel

Important to know that the air and snow temperatures are around 3-5 degrees Celsius lower in the Isel.

The Isel is Arosa's refrigerator and always offers the best snow conditions. The flat terrain invites you to skate and train in ideal conditions for the Engadin Ski Marathon. In December and January, the sun shines brightest from around 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Top tip from the Joho family: take the Panoramaloipe to the Ochsenalp. This strenuous tour offers a fantastic view of the valley and after ski refreshments at the Golfhaus.
